Can people find me with my IP address?

Well, I know that people can track IP address and where someone lives. However, I searched my IP in an IP address locator and it came up with Windstream (my internet service provider). Does this mean that if someone decides to track my IP, they can only find out where Windstream is located, instead of where I am?|||From the ip you can only get a rough location of where the ip is. In some cases the country and in others even the city. To get even deeper only the isp can tell and they don't do it for security reasons except for authorities.|||They can find out your provider and, depending on how your provider is set up, maybe your town or neighborhood. If that segment only covers one town, you're in that town. If it covers only one building, like, say, a large building in NYC, you're in that building. But if that segment covers 5 towns, you're in one of them, and that's as close as it gets without a search warrant.

Bottom line? Don't worry about it - no one can track you any closer than you can. There's no "secret site" that people can go to that you don't know about.|||Maximum what people can find about you is good demonstrate by IP tracing site's below:

http://www.find-ip-address.org/ip-addres鈥?/a>

http://www.ipaddresslocation.org/ip-addr鈥?/a>

It depend everything on IP locator. Some tracers will show city and location of your ISP but some will show you more.|||If they do a traceroute, they may be able to get to your closest access point, which may point to the city, as well as a place within the city, but not specific street or building.

Who does an atheist thank when he feels grateful?|||only the feds or a smart linux hacker can find you with your ip, or email address.

Finding tracker software is kinda difficult to the average person.|||If your internet service provider discloses your location (by court order) then the authorities will know where you live.|||Your IP address can be traced easily but someone cannot get your phisical address based on the ip address.
